Special track on Context in AI Tools and Applications (CAITA 2007)

Introduction

The importance of context is now largely acknowledged in a number of areas of AI (e.g., decision making, diagnosis, pattern recognition, learning, acquisition, explanation, database, etc.) as well as in a large spectrum of domains where AI applied (e.g. Air traffic, Medicine, Road safety, Ubiquitous computing, HCI, Networks, Image treatment, Army, etc.). However, Is context a buzzword? Is context a cosmetic way to hide our ignorance for representing knowledge and reasoning? Is context a patch on our knowledge and reasoning representations? Is context a tool for handling knowledge and reasoning? Is context a part of the problems to represent? Moreover, context has a dynamic nature that is difficult to catch.
